Dear Village Member
In light of the recent announcements by the Government with regard COVID-19, we are inviting people to be part of a new ‘Dunnington Community Support Group’.
Our aim is to establish a network of fellow villagers who can help support local households during a period of self-isolation, whether it would be to do some shopping, walk the dog or have a friendly chat on the phone ... etc. We are not expecting one person to do everything, the idea is to work as a team, identify the need and us all to help provide the solution. To achieve this, we have divided Dunnington into 7 areas each areas having 2 'area coordinators'. Within each section, there will also be be 'Local contacts' for different streets, who will each coordinate a team of 'Local volunteers'. (See a fuller explanation of the structure of the support group).
If you would like to join us in this venture, which we hope you will, please contact the appropriate Area coordinataor based upon your address; giving them your name, address and contact number and what help you may be able to offer. Be imaginative, it could be something practical, or something from within your home. Please can you pass this request onto anyone you think may be able to help. We have created some simple best practice guidelines for volunteers.
If you would be happy to be one of the local contact points on your street, please do let us know, as we think this would be more reassuring for someone feeling vulnerable than having to deal with a stranger. We are having postcards / leaflets printed (see image below) to deliver to each household and we would like to be able to include the name of someone local or familiar for a person in need to contact initially.
By reaching out to everyone, we hope that we can all be part of this effort in some way.
