Our speaker in February was Julie-Ann-Vickers, from York Explore who gave us a fascinating talk on THE POOR LAW UNION, taken from the archives. Which gave us an understanding of the poverty and deprivation at the time and the creation of the ‘Poor House’.

Stockton on the Forest and Hopgrove Local History Group

The History Group is pleased to announce their schedule of meetings for 2020 to which we warmly welcome everyone:  

  • Thursday 19 June at 2:30pm: “The History of Railways in Yorkshire” by Ivan Adams
  • Thursday 17 September at 2:30pm: Speaker T.B.C. 
  • Thursday 19 November 19 at 7:30pm: AGM & Review of Archives Evening

Our meetings are held in the Long Room of the Village Hall, Sandy Lane, Stockton on the Forest and are open to all. Refreshments provided. £2.50 for non-members; £1.50 for members. Membership £10 per annum.
